The Ninety-third Amendment of the Constitution of India, officially known as The Constitution (Ninety-third Amendment) Act, 2005, enabled the State to make any special provision, by law, for the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes in relation to their admission to educational institutions including private educational institutions, whether aided or unaided by the State, except minority educational institutions.〔 〕 The Amendment was intended to enable the Union Government to provide reservation of 27% for other backward classes (OBCs) in public and private educational institutions. ==Text==
